NetworkSolutions.com  "Holding domains hostage, again!"

Posted 02/13/2003

For the past few weeks I have been trying to transfer a domain I own from NetworkSolutions.com to GoDaddy.com.  To insure that everything would go smoothly I called NetworkSolutions.com prior to initiating the process.  After being forced to listen to the NetworkSolutions.com sales pitch a few times, finally I was told that there would be no problem transferring hosts.   Having dealt with NetworkSolutions.com a few years earlier, during another domain name purchase, I knew; nothing is ever easy with NetworkSolutions.com unless NetworkSolutions.com is making money on the deal.  Well, it took over 9 months to finally get that transactions completed at that time and even then I had to pay twice for domain renewals before NetworkSolutions.com would complete the transaction.  Later they agreed to refund my $79.00 and apologized for the abuse, but of course I never saw the $79.00 refund.

Well, here we are again, NetworkSolutions.com is holding my domain name hostage claiming the following (which of course none of the following is true, but what am I suppose to do?)

Note: We regret that Change of Registrar Applications cannot be
processed under the following conditions:

a) Trademark dispute, bankruptcy proceedings or dispute over the
   identity of the domain.
b) Registered less than 60 days with the current registrar.
(It is ICANN regulations that a domain name must be
registered with the current registrar for 60 days before
it can be transferred to another Registrar.)
c) If the current administrative contact rejects the notification.
d) The domain name was not in a paid status at with VeriSign, Inc

Of course everything listed above is completely fabricated because NetworkSolutions.com knows I must transfer the domain by February 18th, 2003.  So here again, I'm locked in to doing business with these shysters.

I hate NetworkSolutions.com and VeriSign!

How can they continually do this to people?

Ending:

Network Solutions finally transferred the domain, however they made me pay the renewal fee before transferring the domain, then apologized saying it was all their fault, they email the wrong address, but, again, kept the money.
